Our Long Island Kitchen Design Team has showrooms in both the North and South shores of Long Island.
The white kitchen was in dire need of being redone; it had (tacky) 1970’s almond Formica countertops and coordinating ancient appliances. Showcase Kitchens in Massapequa designer, turned the kitchen into a transitional (leaning toward contemporary with the glass pencil tile backsplash) showplace – now the proud center of the home. First off, the client wanted a more spacious kitchen. He took this 132 square foot kitchen’s dimensions to a whopping 530 square feet by opening up the room to the dining area and squaring it off into the back yard (the kitchen had an old style bay window).
This was a TOTAL gut renovation. Adding headers (support beams) was necessary as well as enlarging the existing sky light. A niche was created for the refrigerator making it seem like a built-in appliance. Plumbing was reconfigured; gas lines for the new cooktop were added as well as electrical upgraded to meet the needs of the latest appliances. The designer added a decorative tray ceiling with recessed lighting that helps separate the space from the greater kitchen.
Cabinetry and Appliance Details:
The kitchen redesign united dining room and kitchen into one gracious family kitchen. The refrigerator and double oven were built into the cabinetry to give a seamless look to the space. Over-sized, L-shaped island, which houses the kitchen sink. Over-island lighting is a 3-pendant contemporary and the dining area has a sophisticated multi-sphere in polished nickel with glass sphere rods.
Cabinetry is white painted maple, overlay construction in a Shaker style with recessed panels. Center island offers 6 comfortable seats catering to many family and social interchanges. Stools are faux leather with a brushed nickel finish. Countertop on the center island is a solid White Cliff quartz, non-porous and stain resistant…perfect for a family with 2 young girls and lots of friends.
Built in wine rack and beverage cooler defines the bar area. Recessed “tray” ceiling adds character and definition to the eating area. Countertop has splayed corner aiding the movement around the busy kitchen.
Solid maple flooring with a hand-scraped finish anchors this classic, contemporary white kitchen. Skylight was widened for added drama and natural light.
