A foundation Built on Giving

John Starck is at the forefront (and president) of a unique and socially responsible venture, the Designers + Builders Alliance of Long Island.  In late 2013, The Designers + Builders Alliance of Long Island (D+BAofLI) formed as an innovative 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization made up of a diverse group of design-industry professionals.  As the only multi-disciplinary group uniting all of the home trades on Long Island – and beyond, their core mission is to raise money for worthy, local causes. 

In addition to our industry-focused activities, the D+BAofLI will host a signature event, HOMES OF DISTINCTION TOUR, as a self-guided visit into private residences.  The maiden Tour will take place on Saturday, September 20th from 1:00-5:00 PM in the Manhasset area.  The Tour will benefit Tuesday’s Children, a charity founded to promote long-term healing to those local families directly impacted by the events of September 11th.  Today, Tuesday’s Children has branched out to support communities affected by acts of terror worldwide.  The D+BAofLI hopes to mount 2to 3 tours a year thereafter. 

Ultimately, the D+BAofLI will expand to include what we anticipate will be a robust membership with upscale, light-hearted, networking events.  Our goal is to bring together contractors, architects, builders, interior designers and other residential professionals while supporting a wide variety of local causes.  We have also created the D+BAofLI Scholarship Fund supporting Old Westbury campus of New York Institute of Technology students’ summer training abroad.
