A 25-year veteran of the kitchen and bath industry, Rand was raised in the contracting business and is architecturally trained. He joined Showcase Kitchens in 2005. Rand has “done it all,” from importing cabinets from Italy for resale here, to operating his own retail business in Westport, Connecticut, as well as working for some of the region’s top kitchen and bath firms, such as Christopher Peacock Cabinetry in Greenwich and American Classic Kitchens in Manhattan. Rand says, “My design philosophy can be summed up by saying that I enjoy creating designs that reflect the personalities of my clients.”
I redid my kitchen a few years ago, but didn’t do everything I wanted at the time. I needed to open it up. I’m a gourmet cook and needed an area to cook in, but didn’t want to lose the warmth. The way Rand designed it is everything I could imagine and more. He designed a cherry island with a natural butcher block top with stools around it that people immediately gravitate to. He also designed a buffet with matching twin towers on each side covered with leaded glass. Even my kids walked in and said, “Wow!” He couldn’t have been easier to work with. He was always available. He was very methodical; the plans were perfect. It was such a pleasure. He was as professional as they come.

Rand was recommended to me by a friend. He did three areas in my full-house renovation: a kitchen, butler’s pantry and another kitchen in the basement. We were on the telephone almost daily. He was available anytime I needed to reach him, even on a Sunday or in the evenings. Whenever I had a question or an issue, he dealt with it and took care of it. He’s very responsive and keeps you informed. He’s a class act. I totally relied on him for design. He worked very well with my interior designer. He was right on target with his advice. I didn’t feel any fear because he knew what he was talking about. I was very happy with the outcome.

Rand has a wonderful eye for design. I knew conceptually what I was looking for, but he was able to put all the pieces together for my kitchen renovation. I was looking for an arts-and-crafts style and cherry cabinets with inset doors. He built a design around it. One of the things that stood out in completing the project was selection of the right elements on the floor and the backsplash. He took a lot of time to explain the products. He’s easy to talk to, and he’s a pleasure to work with.
